DATA HEIST: privacy and prize rules
Short version: we store your email only to contact you if you win, your display name and time appear on the leaderboard, your email never does, and everything is deleted within 30 days after the event.
Consent you give when you submit a time
I agree that Apify may store my email address to contact me if I win the DATA HEIST prize. My display name and time appear on the public leaderboard; my email never does. All data is deleted within 30 days after the event.
Who is responsible
Controller: Apify (legal entity to be confirmed).
What we store and why
- Email address: only to contact the winner. It is encrypted on arrival to a key that is kept offline; the game server itself cannot read it.
- Display name: shown on the public leaderboard next to your time.
- Your runs: the button presses of each finished run (a replay), the verified time and statistics, so organizers can check the top runs.
- A pseudonymous network hash: a keyed hash of your IP address that changes every day, used only against abuse. Your IP address itself is not stored.
If you tick "Remember me on this device", your name and email are stored in your own browser so later runs are claimed automatically. You can clear it in the game settings or by clearing site data.
Legal basis
Your consent. You can withdraw it at any time; we then erase your player entry and your runs.
Retention
All data is deleted within 30 days after the event.
Hosting
The game runs on a server at Hetzner in Germany. Nothing is shared with LinkedIn or any other third party, and there are no analytics or tracking scripts.
Erasure and questions
Ask at the Apify booth, or write to the contact address announced at the event (to be confirmed). We erase your data and confirm.
Speedrun rules
Anything the game allows is legal: skips, glitches and tech are fair game. Not allowed: modified clients, automation, input macros, or tampering with the server. Organizers review the top runs and may ask the winner for a short live run at the booth. One prize per person; ties go to the earlier submission.
